DONATING

Although DABO receives some government funding, the needs of the community far outweigh the funds available. Often, these grants do not support new, innovative projects and initiatives even those directly related to DABO's core mission. It is only through generous gifts that we are able to combat community issues of poverty in new and creative ways.

Statistically, Detroit has been hit the hardest by the country’s recent economic downturn and the needs are great. Unfortunately, government monies specifically set aside for our programs and services have been cut and are no longer guaranteed. Because of the high unemployment rate, increasing drop out rate, startling homeless statistics and number of people going hungry, the proper capitalization of our community and business programs are more crucial than ever.

The discretionary aspects of individual and corporate donations allows us to be more immediately responsive to the community, thus causing our programs and activities to be more effective. We greatly appreciate your monetary support in helping to facilitate and create the organizational capacity necessary to sustain its mission.

If you have any questions about giving to DABO, please contact Rev. Horace Sheffield III, Director of Planning and Development, at Sheffield3@dabodetroit.com or (313) 491-0003.
